Foodie Friday: Eats – Chicken & Waffles

Looking for a great brunch spot this weekend? You will want to check out Eats in the Inner Richmond. I’ve walked past the brunch spot plenty of times and finally decided to pop in one Sunday and try it out. I’m kind of a fried chicken connoisseur – meaning if there is fried chicken on a menu, I will usually order and pick apart all the elements. The Chicken and Waffles at Eats was quite delicious. This isn’t your usual fried chicken with a thigh & drumstick or even a breast piece on the bone. Their fried chicken is a whole fried breast fillet that is seasoned and fried well with a crunchy exterior and juicy inside without being greasy. It also makes me feel a lot less guilty about eating fried chicken if it’s just a breast fillet. haha. The mushroom sauce that came on top of it was rather tasty and compliments the chicken without making the skin all soggy. The waffles were done very well as well with a great crunch to them and a well balanced sweetness that goes smoothly with the powdered sugar and syrup. My girlfriend got the bacon & eggs sandwich which was awesome as well.

If you don’t live in the area, you can make a whole Sunday Funday out of it with a handful of small boutique stores in the area and plenty of other eats out there. Park Life is one of my favorite stores in the area and it has a gallery space in the back. There are also plenty of great Asian eats out there and cheap groceries! If you live in the area, I would most definitely recommend popping in for brunch the next time you walk past it. I’ll be back there for sure.
