Storm King, An Autumn/Fall-Lover’s Dream

Storm King

It’s that wonderful time of year again. The summer heat has finally cooled off to give us a break before the impending winter. We catch the familiar smells of cinnamon, pumpkin, apples and other lovely spices. Now is the time when New Yorkers flock out to take advantage of the outdoors while they can and take in the beauty of the turning leaves. There’s no better place to enjoy this than at Storm King.
Storm King
Located 1.5 hrs north of Manhattan, it is a trek to get to this sculpture garden in upstate New York. However, it’s worth every penny and all the effort to be surrounded by beautiful Mother Nature and take in the wonderful, crisp autumn atmosphere. Plan ahead to arrange the right transportation and block off a day to spend out there.

People of all ages come to Storm King to relax out in the open, admire the art and just play in the leaves!

Including us! Not to mention, there’s just too many photo opportunities out here. 😉

My friend K didn’t even see this batch of leaves coming at him from T!

It’s almost hard to believe how vibrant the leaves are during this time. Oftentimes, we would catch ourselves speechless and in awe of the firey red, orange and yellow leaves right in front of our eyes. The saturated trees would stand out like paintbrushes against the background.

As the sun set, we could see the entire environment change with the moving light.

We loved walking around and absorbing the free space and fresh, clean air. Trust me, it’s a real luxury when you’ve been living in NYC for too long. No joke.

Hope these snaps are enough to convince you to hurry and plan your trip to Storm King! Here are a few tips as you’re prepping:
– Book transportation early: There are a variety of ways to get up there besides renting a car. See the Storm King site for more details on available transportation.
– Food: There is a cafe on site, but it has very limited options. You can bring some of your own food and picnic out there or eat before/after your visit.
– Make a stop at Woodbury Common Outlet: Many people flock out to this outlet due to the sheer number of well-known brands. There’s also Shake Shack and food court options here if you’re holding out on getting food until after your visit.

As we all know, fall won’t last too long out here so seize the opportunity while you can! Hope you enjoy Storm King as much as we did.
