I love brunch, but sometimes, I really have to question why I’m paying $15 for some simple variation and combination of eggs, bacon and pancakes. More often than not, I am disappointed to see the typical brunch items: french toast, eggs benedict, buttermilk pancakes, omelette, etc. with an addition of some ingredient (the latest hype: kale) to spruce it up. Don’t get me wrong. Sometimes, this is exactly what the doctor ordered on a weekend morning. It is comfort food. However, if you’re checking out every new brunch place to see what all the hype’s about, the same thing gets old. This is the reason Battery Harris stands out so much to me.
From the start, the entrance to Battery Harris already beckons you inside with the trendiest signage and a menu deal. My goodness, just check out their site. If that is not the epitome of trendy, then I don’t know what is. What’s better is that I have never had to wait since they have so much space. MAJOR perk in the brunch world!
So what makes Battery Harris so special? They serve brunch with a whole Caribbean twist from sweet plantains to jerk sausage and rum raisin french toast to oxtail hash. It’s refreshing to see a unique menu with spin-offs of regular brunch items. Check out part of their menu below!
Is that something else or what? The food is delicious! We have had several large groups celebrate their birthdays at this place and no one has ever been disappointed. I should mention that Battery Harris has the best jerk sauce ever known to mankind. Seriously, it’s addictive. We added it in excess to both the burger and oxtail hash pictured below. If we didn’t hold ourselves back, we may have just eaten the sauce by itself. :-X
But, you know, self-control is overrated. So, we made up for it by ordering a bottomless brunch instead for my roommate’s birthday. =P As you can tell, things got weird.
Battery Harris apparently turns into a trendy bar scene at night in case anyone plans to stay through that transition. Haha. Either way, check out Battery Harris for yourself! Amazing food and even more amazing jerk sauce. Really, I cannot emphasize it any more.
