Getting #CheddaWasted at Chedda Burger in Salt Lake City, Utah

With a name like Chedda Burger, and a hashtag called #CheddaWasted, I knew from the get-go I would love this place. And boy, was it a love story. With decadent burgers, out-of-this world sides, and fun decor, Chedda Burger is definitely a must-try if you’re ever in Salt Lake City.

When I went, it was around 3pm in the afternoon, so relatively empty. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit this, but this one of the only few times I’ve ever dined out by myself. Usually, I just grab takeout, cause I might as well be eating at home if I’m alone. Despite only being a block away, I decided to stay and eat so I would enjoy it fresh! Plus, my hotel room wasn’t exactly the greatest backdrop for photography…

Unfortunately, because I was flying solo, I could only really order one burger and side. And boy did I maximize on it. I went with The Green Mile Burger, which was stuffed to the brim with mac ‘n’ cheese, bacon, green chile and mustard. For a side, I chose The Comfort Kid, which was a POUND of fried brussels sprouts, chedda cheese and BBQ pulled pork, topped with a fried egg and Sriracha mayo.

The burger was good, but the side really blew my mind. I’ve had tons and tons of brussels sprouts in San Francisco, and it ends up costing me about $10 for a pound and to be honest, it’s rarely cooked well. Here, I had a pound of perfectly fried brussels sprouts, complete with charred and crispy edges, without any bitterness. Add huge chunks of BBQ pork, smothered in egg yolk and Sriracha mayo…. Well, let’s just say I still think about it today. Often. And still salivate thinking about it.

Moreover, beyond the fantastic food, the staff there is extremely friendly. The chef came to chat with me while I obnoxiously took photos and gave no judgment. In fact, he even offered to dim the artificial lighting so the pictures would turn out better. I mean, you really can’t beat that type of service. If you’re ever in Salt Lake City, make sure to stop by Chedda Burger, and don’t forget your camera!
